January 2020 separate accumulation of waste is implemented in the largest Russian metropolis – Moscow. While at first glance it seems that in reality almost nothing has changed: the trash cans and garbage trucks remained almost the same, and many people — even in Moscow! – remain “junk dissidents”. And still, changes are coming — they clearly show the polls. So, conducted in the second half of March, the study of “Levada-center” shows that about 70% of people who have next to the house there are containers for separate collection, used to sort the waste.
the Survey, conducted by sociologists in 50 regions of the Russian Federation, showed several characteristic trends that the urbanists and environmentalists will have to consider in the future. First, a key parameter influencing the willingness to sort waste is the presence near the house of containers for separate collection. These containers — one for “recyclables”, i.e. dry recyclables, the other for everything else — must be installed across the country. Secondly, the main argument against separate collection remains a distrust of the operators of export and recycling. Lack of time and overcrowding “under the sink”, as the presence of garbage also mentioned as important reasons.
Now 70% of the population who have access to containers for separate collection, sorting waste is already (and almost half of them does it regularly). Apparently, this achievement is not only infrastructure, but also the many enthusiasts who made the topic sort of relevant. This can be seen by the fact that 73% of those who have next to no “separate” pots ready when they appear to do the sorting, and only 25% refuse on principle to it.
Junk “dissidents” who refuse to sort their own waste, are motivated by the variety of reasons. Here and the presence of garbage, and lack of confidence in what trash really is aimed at processing and even simple disgust. It is interesting that now, during the epidemic of the coronavirus, between supporters and opponents of the garbage disposal turned violent debate: safer whether from the point of view of epidemiology to go out and throw the trash bag into the tank or better to remain in the porch and touch the door handle?
In General, for generalized (study — Federal scale) figures is mass psychology — and for each region, and certainly for each class of settlements is their own.
-specially Recently wrote our company-the operator was asked to supply more tanks for recycling and less for mixed waste, – says a resident of the Lomonosov district of Alexey Petukhov.
the enthusiasm of the population to actively support operators, occupyingesja waste disposal. For example, in may in Moscow and the Moscow region LLC “Ecoline” has released a special animated video tutorials, which shows what way is a normal plastic bottle from the dumpster to recycling in the other the same plastic bottle.
“Accurate visualization not only Orient the audience, but also help their engagement, – said the Deputy General Director of “Ecoline” Elena Vishnjakova. – People will receive information about separate collection, correlates it with what is happening in the container yard in the yard, and make sure that the separate collection of works. Often, it is the credibility of the system becomes the main argument for starting a home sort – when there is an understanding that you’re not doing this in vain.”
the Awareness campaign can be conducted in the school of education, says Ruslan Gubaydullin, Executive Director of the Association “Pure country”. “The subject of proper waste management can be integrated into several school subjects, – the public man notes – to educate the children not only environmental awareness but also interest in many branches of production and processing”.
Such educational films (as well as posters and other materials) really work: the evidence of the experience of Europe and America where separate waste collection is mandatory is not the first decade. However, the reviews of those who not only sees foreign visual propaganda, but also lives in the West, everyday life, talking about one: education only positively supports tough enough but fair for most people rules. In particular, we are talking about tariffs on the export of sorted and unsorted waste (they should be radically different) and the clear affiliation of each individual container of those or other households.
Russia is now gradually turned on and the “stick” of mandatory requirements for separate collection of waste, and “gingerbread” educational campaign. A comprehensive approach yields results that confirmed and recorded sociologists numbers. So that you can be sure — the future for separate accumulation of waste.
