More and more young people from Generation Z will acquire their first property in the coming years. According to a new study conducted by Point2, they are likely to abandon large urban centers in favor of cities on a human scale.

The study analyzed Canadian cities based on 35 metrics, such as affordable housing, cost of living, work-life balance, access to mental health services and financial security.

Eight of the 10 cities considered “ideal” for Zs have populations under 300,000. St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, ranks at the top of the list, followed by Quebec City and Lévis. Quebec dominates the top 10, with 8 cities, including Montreal, the only major metropolis to appear there.
