Survival strategy of the human species at the present time leads to the destruction of its habitat, so it is necessary to change this strategy to save the planet and avoid repetition pandemics, said RIA Novosti biologist, member of the conferences of the UN Conventions in the field of protection of animals and biodiversity Maria Vorontsov.
"According to virologists, if humanity is to cope with COVID-19, but will not change its strategy, then in two years will be some kind of pandemic. Viruses a great many, and they are new to humans, and when the virus or parasite or new, it is usually very dangerous, deadly to the organism. If we do not redefine their strategies as a species, the pandemic will continue. After this pandemic, we must understand how we will preserve their habitat", – said Vorontsov.
She noted that the man has a huge impact on all terrestrial ecosystems.
"Start disappearing kelp forests-kelp, which are the biotope, habitat and breeding, a nursery for many marine species of invertebrates and fish. Most likely, this occurred because the sea is warmer, and it will continue. Actively developing deep-water fisheries. Fish are caught by trawling, at the same time destroyed all deep sea animals," explained Vorontsova.
She noted that at the bottom of the ocean long ago discovered many deposits of rare earth metals.
"the Whole world believes that it is necessary to get. There are deposits of cobalt, manganese and others that are used in mobile phones and electronic devices. Now organized by the international organization for deep seabed mining at the United Nations, this year had to issue licenses for the development of areas in the ocean," said Fontova.
The expert said that there are already machines that will be "to gnaw" bottom at a depth of 4-5 kilometers and then to transfer the extracted through the pipe to the ship.
"However, the bottom at this depth very soft, and it means that with this production in the ocean will hang suspended, which will darken the depths of the ocean, and it is certainly will affect living organisms and the temperature of the ocean", – said Vorontsov.
She recalled that because of intensive agriculture is soil depletion. Agricultural technologies focused on monocultures, using large amount of fertilizers and pesticides.
"For example, take the palm plantation. For them cut down the rainforest. As a result, these areas are getting a divorce in the huge number of rodents that feed on the nuts of palm trees. Appeared the rodents became more snakes. In the end palm plantation is infested with poisonous snakes and there employees to go to fear. All of this is rainforest. Monoculture is a fragile system", – said Vorontsov.
In her view, humanity must change the parasitic strategy in relation to nature, to a normal symbiosis, but for this we need to choose a different strategy for the human species.
