the Themes of their works sometimes so close that correspondents sometimes there is confusion with the identification of scientists. The reason is simple: all three “children” laureate of the state prize of the Russian Federation, chief scientific officer of the Institute of applied physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPMAN) Professor Efim Malinovskogo.
The first “child” was the Ira Didenkulova: ending radiofak Nizhny Novgorod state University (UNN) named after Lobachevsky, she came to Yefim Naumovich to write a thesis. Then there was the 2004 tsunami that claimed 300 thousand lives. Irina deepened in the theoretical model of the propagation of the tsunami, and in the forwarding study of its traces in the Kuril Islands. He defended his PhD thesis (2006 – on fluid mechanics, gas and plasma, and in 2008-m – civil construction with regard to the protection of shoreline structures), and in 2013-m and a doctorate.
In 2014, for the development of physical-mathematical models of marine natural disasters in the coastal zone Irina was awarded the prize of the President of the Russian Federation in the field of science and innovations for young scientists.
– love of the sea my childhood, – said Irina. The first time my parents have taken to Noumea in six years. Apparently, then I have some attachment to this element.
Then the second Didenkulova, while still a student 3-year student of Nizhny Novgorod state University (NSTU, Department of Applied mathematics) Sargolini, start to do science under the leadership of Efim Malinovskogo. Thesis Catherine was dedicated to rogue waves in the ocean. Then – defence of two PhD theses, scientific and pedagogical activity. Through Efim Naumovich Catherine met Irina.
Irina’s Brother, Oleg Didenkulova – graduate physical-technical faculty of Novosibirsk state technical University – for example, the older sister became interested in the study of waves in the coastal zone and in 2016, defended his thesis under the direction of Efim Malinovskogo. During the writing of the dissertation within the walls of IPMAN happened the fateful acquaintance of Oleg and Catherine Sargolini. A year later they were married.
Then all three participated in several research projects under the NSTU and IPRAN because their research interests lie in related fields. And some studies have even passed “by inheritance”. So, Irina has created a directory of occurrence of “freak waves” in the oceans over the period from 2005 to 2010, and Catherine continued this work in 2011-2018.
Parents Ira and Oleg are also associated with science. Father, Igor Nikolaevich Didenkov – senior researcher of the laboratory of coherent and nonlinear geoacoustic IPRAN, and mother, Irina, worked as a senior researcher in the Institute of chemistry at Nizhny Novgorod state University.
Name of Didenkulova, according to family legend, has Ukrainian roots: his grandfather IGOC N. – Didenko – lived in Rostov-on-don. In the 1930-ies, during the period of collectivization, because of the threat of arrest, they were forced to move to Siberia. After living about two years in Siberia, the family moved to Kyrgyzstan, where the Ukrainian name written in Kyrgyz style.
