Does FC Bayern Munich buy the Bundesliga broken? New figures allow a surprising conclusion. The explanation has several reasons.
Surprising statistics: No club buys more players within the Bundesliga than BVB. This is shown by figures from ZDF, about which “spox” reports. Overall, Dortmund’s expenses are almost 400 million euros – in the last 10 years. This means that 29 Bundesliga players have been signed. FC Bayern Munich came in second with “only” just under 240 million for 21 players.

Effective Bayern: Bayern’s transfers are doing better overall than Dortmund’s. While some players at Dortmund cannot fully develop their potential (e.g. Schulz, Diallo, Schürrle), there are only a few at Munich (e.g. Cuisance and Sabitzer).
Complex explanation: The Bundesliga does not have the same financial resources as the Premier League. It also doesn’t have the appeal of La Liga or Serie A. That’s why the top German clubs mainly buy reinforcements from within the league. In addition, players who already know the league can be more easily integrated into the teams.
