After some strong criticism from the ranks of the coalition, Federal Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) has rejected doubts about her administration.
Lambrecht told the editorial network Germany (RND) that she had “not regretted a single day” about the decision to take over the ministerial office. “In the meantime I have also shown that I do not talk at length, but implement. That’s how I continue. If you go into politics, you have to be able to deal with criticism.”
Lambrecht also contradicted speculation that she could change from Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) to her post after a possible change. “I have a task in the Federal Ministry of Defense that will keep me fully occupied during this legislative period,” she said. In this department, “particularly in this legislative period, you have the opportunity to change and improve so many things for the Bundeswehr. That’s a huge opportunity.”
Lambrecht admitted a few weeks ago that after the federal elections he had actually prepared himself to take over the interior ministry.
