The CDU politician Hendrik Wüst has been re-elected Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia. On Tuesday, the 46-year-old was confirmed as head of government in the state parliament in a secret ballot with 106 out of 181 valid votes in the first ballot. Wüst, who has headed a black-yellow coalition for the past eight months, is now leading the state’s first black-green coalition.

Hendrik Wüst (CDU) took his family to the Düsseldorf state parliament for the election of the Prime Minister in North Rhine-Westphalia. The incumbent Prime Minister appeared on Tuesday afternoon at a reception given by the President of the Landtag. Also present: wife Katharina and their one-year-old daughter. The 34-year-old pushed little Philippa in the stroller to the reception.

A good six weeks after the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia, the state parliament voted in a secret ballot on Tuesday for the prime minister for the new legislative period. Hendrik Wüst (CDU) stood for re-election after taking over the post from Armin Laschet (CDU) last autumn.
