North Korea has expressed its readiness to give the “toughest response” to any military action by Washington. Such a statement was made by a representative of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the North Korean Central Telegraph Agency (KCNA).
Earlier, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that the United States intends to keep its promises to resist the aggression of the DPRK, including the use of nuclear weapons. He explained that last year North Korea carried out an “unprecedented number” of provocations. Then the Yonhap news agency reported that Washington and Seoul held joint air exercises, in which combat aircraft from the US Air Force took part.
A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK said that the military-political situation on the Korean peninsula has reached a critical point due to the actions of the United States.
“The DPRK will take the toughest response to any US military attempt,” the publication says.
The representative of the DPRK Foreign Ministry stressed that Pyongyang is ready to respond with a “nuclear bomb to a nuclear bomb” and “total confrontation to total confrontation.”
KCNA notes that the DPRK has a strategy to counter the United States and its allies. The representative of the North Korean Foreign Ministry added that Pyongyang will not engage in dialogue with Washington while the United States is showing “hostility.”
