Samsung has emerged over the years, a rough time schedule for the Updates to the Galaxy-Smartphones: the New devices can be obtained in the normal case, approximately two years after its Release the major Android Updates with new functions and Features – the Google security updates are usually about three years on the devices.
With its High-End devices, Samsung has made in the past, however, and exceptions; the Smartphones, the S series is about received the security updates are often longer than three years. In this category, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge fell – both phones were equipped from Samsung for nearly four years after the Release in June of 2016, with the critical security updates.

In the case of a real serious security vulnerability it is, however, possible that the S7 and the S7 Edge will still receive a security patch; the previous model, the Galaxy S6, has received such an Update. Only the regular Updates will be suspended from Samsung from now on.
