Hertha BSC wants to build a new arena in the near future and move out of the Olympic Stadium. An architect is now showing what the new home of the Berliners could look like, but the club has no idea about it at first.

Surprising arena design: Architect Mario Lindner, founder of the Lindner planning office in Berlin, has published a design for the planned new arena of Hertha BSC on his own authority. Curious: The club initially knew nothing about it. “We have tried to reach someone responsible from Hertha, but so far we have had no success,” said Lindner to “Bild”.

Short, compact, clear

Architect wants to generate attention: But why did the architect and Hertha fan still publish his plans? “It should be an impetus, an initiative, a kick-off. If there were an invitation to tender, a competition, we would like to take part. And of course we wanted to get into conversation with this proposal.”

Linder probably doesn’t stand a chance: The draft provides for 45,000 seats with a grandstand structure reminiscent of Boca Juniors’ Bombonera Stadium in Buenos Aires. This also corresponds to the ideas of Hertha. According to reports, the club is not particularly enthusiastic about the draft. Hertha has already commissioned “Albert Speer Partner GmbH” with a feasibility study.
