the Judges have good reason to smile, when they swing with dankortet.
Completely new figures show that the judges ‘ earnings on bijobs in the 2019 set a new record. And it is money earned in addition to their normal work in the country’s otherwise right-pressed courts.
In all, earned the judges last year 68.206.290 dollars on biindtægter, which is the highest amount since Bibeskæftigelsesnævnet in 2008 began to publish the figures.
“It is a violent increase in income in the bijobs the judges have had, and it is clear that it is increasing year after year,” says Eva Smith, who is a professor emerita at the Department of law at Copenhagen University.
And the increase has been running on fumes.
In 2018, earned the judges overall 58.579.973 kr., so in just a year is nearly 10 million. kr. extra into the account of the judges with bijobs.
What has each judge so served?
on average, each of the total of 247 judges, with secondary job 276.139 kr. extra in salary last year.
It is the highest amount, judges on average have earned by bijobs.
As B. T. already has uncovered, so there has been a fairly marked increase in victims and criminals ‘ waiting times at the country’s district courts.
The latest figures showing a case by the district court in the average took 153 days to get implemented in the first half of 2019.
And it is the highest number of days in five years.
“I’m sure the judges do their work in the courts. But with so many bijobs they might not profit to give it an extra tooth, if there is a need for it,” says Eva Smith.
in Fact, a judge may only serve, what is the equivalent of 50 percent of his normal wage by the courts.
But according to the judges at all, how much they can bijobbe?
No, not always, is the answer.
B. T. be able to in February tell a judge of the high court really have scored the box to bijobbe.
exactly this judge got 444.873 kr. too much in salary for bijobs.
And in march it emerged that Ulrik Finn Jørgensen, who is the judge of the Court in Lyngby, in five years, had a job on the side without seeking permission.
the President of The Danish magistrates ‘ association, Mikael Sjöberg, regrets, in a letter to justice minister Nick Hækkerup (S) the two judges breach of the rules.
‘I should be the first to complain that a colleague has set itself roughly in addition to all the rules and served twice in the sideline of what they do,’ he writes in the letter, sent 10. march, and continues:
‘I must also regret that a colleague in five years has had secondary employment without the necessary permission from the Bibeskæftigelsesnævnet. In short, it’s a mess’
already a minister under pressure from several politicians, who want the courts to be part of the new flerårsaftale, which otherwise would apply to the police and the public prosecutor’s office.
Mikael Sjöberg, how do you see that the judges serve rekordmeget on bijobs, while the victims ‘ waiting time at court is very long?
“I can see the dilemma. But it does not have any spill-over effect for the duration of the proceedings. The judges ‘ sideline needs to be done in our spare time,” he says.
Eva Smith believes, it must be hard for judges both to bijobbe and the waiting time to fall in court.
“You have to remember, that when it really burns, and there is a big hump on his work, we must all work over. But it can probably be difficult, when at the same time used the time on the other bijobs,” she says.
