KIEV, 13 APR — RIA Novosti. Near the Chernobyl NPP observed crown fires, reported the State Agency of Ukraine on exclusion zone.
“Received information that in the village of Rassokha continues the fire horse, who came from S. Old Falcons. Also crown fire observed in the area of Krivaya Gora, on the Left Bank of Pripyat. The fire which was between the cooling pond and the Pripyat river, extinguished”, — stated in the message.
Notes that come down to the outdoor switchgear fire also was extinguished.
Previously a member of the state Agency Yaroslav Emelianenko said that the fire was moving towards the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, because there the wind blows. In turn, Deputy interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said that the fire does not threaten the warehouse of nuclear waste.

Today, due to the strong wind, the fire, bypassing the section of the “red forest”, went to the train station of Yanov, which is located four kilometers from the nuclear power plant. Also burned the grass on the dam of the reservoir-cooler on the right Bank of the Pripyat.
According to the Ukrainian law enforcers, the cause of the fire was arson, the identity of the attacker has already established. In extinguishing involved more than 390 people and 90 pieces of equipment.
At the end of April 1986 exploded fourth reactor of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. After the disaster, the total area of radioactive contamination in Belarus amounted to about 46.5 thousand square kilometers (23% of total land area) in Ukraine is 50 thousand square kilometers in 12 areas. In the aftermath of the accident it was decided to create point of radioactive waste (rwdp) “Podlesny”. It is located a mile North of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, on the former site of the eponymous farm. Waste is placed in special concrete compartments, the wall thickness of which reaches several meters.
