A mother and her seven children died in a house fire in France. The father of the family was seriously injured, the police and fire department said. The fire broke out on Monday night in the small community of Charly-sur-Marne, a good 80 kilometers east of Paris.
The children – five girls and two boys – slept with their parents on the top floor of the house, the authorities said. The fire brigade was called by the neighbors shortly before 1 a.m. The extinguishing work would have lasted until the morning.
