NATO believes that Russia should cancel "constraints on inspection flights in the center of Kaliningrad, near the border with Georgia", in exchange for which the United States may review the decision to withdraw from the Treaty on open skies (DON). This is stated in the statement of the Alliance released on Friday following an emergency meeting of the NATO Council.
As highlighted in the document, NATO countries believe that Russia does not comply with the DON, and call Russia "to return to the full execution of this agreement" that, from the point of view of NATO, will allow him to keep after the unilateral decision of US to withdraw from it.
The Russian side has repeatedly rejected allegations of the alleged breaches of contract. According to the Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Ryabkov, USA are themselves gross violators.
