Forecasters told what kind of weather will be established in the capital region during the New Year holidays.
According to preliminary data, it will be a clear day only on December 31. On January 1, the first day of 2023, partly cloudy weather is expected, and then cloudy weather will set in the metropolitan region.
According to forecasters, throughout the New Year holidays, except December 31 and January 1, there will be light snow in the metropolitan region. The coldest night is forecast for December 31. The temperature may drop to minus 21 degrees. The daytime temperature will be minus 17 degrees.
January 1 will be a little warmer, minus 14 degrees is expected in the afternoon. It will get warmer in the capital region closer to Christmas: the night of January 6 is expected to be the warmest — the temperature may rise to minus one degree. Precipitation in the form of snow and rain is possible, RIAMO reports.
In the Moscow region and the capital, dry, sunny and frosty weather will be established on the first day of winter. It is noted that the temperature will be 5 degrees below normal, the online publication “Moscow region Today” reports.
Scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation Roman Vilfand said that frosts up to 11 degrees in the afternoon are expected in the metropolitan region from Monday, December 5. An increase in atmospheric pressure is also predicted.
