An 18-year-old has confessed to having stabbed his 14-year-old girlfriend to death while she was sleeping. The accused, who was 17 at the time of the crime, stated that he regretted the crime, a court spokesman said on Friday. The hearing takes place behind closed doors in front of the youth chamber.

The mother of the 14-year-old, who is taking part in the process as a joint plaintiff, found the girl dead in bed in October last year. Her boyfriend, with whom she had spent the night in her children’s room, had disappeared. Police said the girl was killed with a single stab in the chest.

Around 24 hours after the crime, the youth suspect was arrested without resistance at Munich’s Pasing S-Bahn station. The police had launched a large-scale manhunt for the German.

Ultimately, however, it was two of his friends who discovered him there and informed the railway security guards, as the investigators said at the time.

According to the investigating public prosecutor’s office in Munich I from last year, there were indications of mental abnormalities in the 17-year-old, but these were not elaborated on.
