Vandals threw stones and broke the glass in the mosque Kurchum in the city of Trikala, in Central Greece, according to local portal trikalanews.gr.

The publication notes that it could be a reaction to the decision of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan to make the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul into a mosque.

The attack occurred at night, few people with stones smashed glass door.

The municipality of Trikala informed about the incident, police are seeking the culprits and take measures that such incidents are not repeated, writes the website.

Kurshum mosque known as the mosque of Osman Shah, was built in the XVI century by the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. This is the only monument of culture and art of creation of Sinan, which has been preserved on the territory of modern Greece.
