Gati won the belt interim champion of the UFC lightweight title after defeating compatriot Tony Ferguson on may 10 technical knockout. Originally a rival of Ferguson was to become the Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov.
McGregor spent last fight in the UFC in January of this year. The athlete competed in the Welterweight division and won by TKO American Donald Serrone.
