On May 3, 2007, then three-year-old Madeleine “Maddie” Beth McCann disappeared without a trace from a holiday resort in Portugal. Since then, the police and Maddie’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have been trying to solve the crime. In June 2020, things got moving when investigators suspected the German Christian B., who is currently serving a prison sentence in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, as a suspected kidnapper and murderer. Christian B. actually lived in Portugal in 2007. But four months after Maddie’s mysterious disappearance, he made his way to Germany to undergo dental surgery, according to thesun.co.uk. Not only the mug shot could have led to the trail of the perpetrator. As thesun.co.uk further reports, on April 9, 2007, a ten-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on Salema beach by a man with four buck teeth. Salema is only twelve miles from the vacation home where little Maddie was kidnapped.
It is not yet known whether the new findings about B.’s facial surgery will also be included in the public prosecutor’s hearing of evidence. As “stern.de” reports, however, there has recently been renewed movement in the case. “The investigation is ongoing and we have found some new facts, some new evidence,” the prosecutor responsible for the case, Hans Christian Wolters, reportedly announced on May 3 in an interview with the Portuguese television channel CM-TV.
