Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has declared “absolute” readiness to restore relations with the United States, TASS reports.
“Venezuela is ready, absolutely ready to take steps towards the normalization of diplomatic, consular and political relations with this US government and with the future government,” Maduro said.
Officially, Venezuela’s relations with the United States were severed in 2019, when the United States recognized the head of the parliament, Juan Guaido, as president after the elections in 2018.
Earlier, the opposition of Venezuela decided to liquidate the provisional government" Juan Guaido and his alternative cabinet. Since 2018, Venezuela has been experiencing a political crisis related to the election of Nicolas Maduro as president of the country — then the parliament announced Speaker Juan Guaido as acting head of state. Guaido has been recognized in the USA, the EU and some Latin American countries.
