the Problems surrounding the “Nord stream-2” can lead to the fact that the EU can rise gas, said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov. He is convinced that the project will still be run.
Earlier, Germany rejected the application of the operator “Nord stream-2” 2 Nord Stream AG, which is asked to release the project from the requirements of the EU gas Directive. This means that now the “Nord stream-2” can not be run at full capacity. 2 Nord Stream AG will appeal against this decision.
“the Experts — that’s their opinion — agree that almost all options for resolving the legal conflict would increase the cost of gas for consumers, for citizens of EU countries”, — Lavrov said at a press-conference at the end of the Ministerial meeting of the Council of the Baltic sea States (quoted by TASS).
however, he believes that “Nord stream-2” is launched.
the Minister also noted that Russia will not put pressure on Germany in connection with the “Nord stream-2”. He said that today he was going to hold telephone talks with the foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas.
“And certainly not going to force the German government to take a decision as trying to do our American partners, in particular during a telephone conversation (Secretary of state.—”B”) Michael Pompeo with Heiko Maas, which the state Department so bravely announced,” — said Sergey Lavrov.
