What is presenter Barbara Schöneberger’s beauty secret? Focus Online asked Munich medical specialists.
“Beauty intervention” is a word that we don’t necessarily associate with presenter Barbara Schöneberger. After all, the likeable Munich native has stood by her rough edges for years – doesn’t take herself and her weight too seriously. Her current confession is all the more surprising.
When Focus Online met Barbara at DKMS Life’s “Dream Day” last year, the 48-year-old had a clear attitude towards cosmetic surgery. If you really want to keep yourself young, so really “young young”, then you have to intervene surgically – “in a massive sense”, according to the blonde. “But I don’t have enough free time to let the scars heal for so long,” Barbara explained at the time, adding, “That’s why the [beauty procedure] is already out.” Meanwhile, it doesn’t anymore, like she spilled the beans at the photo shoot for the latest issue of her magazine.
Barbara only wants to rely on creams to a limited extent. “Lately I’ve started doing everything that’s legal on my face and neck and décolleté,” admits the “Take it easy” presenter. Legal? There are many beauty procedures in Germany: from thread lifting to fruit acid peeling to botox, everything is possible. What exactly does Barbara do to herself, she explains as follows: “There are such hot flashes that flash in there and supposedly the old then breaks and new things are created”. We can’t really imagine anything underneath it – that’s why Focus Online asked Munich specialists more closely.
“The treatment that Barbara Schöneberger is talking about is the so-called IPL treatment, i.e. Intense Pulsed Light,” speculates Dr. Markus Klöppel, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery. “This is a high-energy flash lamp that uses light to transfer energy to the cells. It serves to increase the skin’s own natural collagen production and to help the skin to become more elastic and firm by stimulating the natural collagen production. The treatment can be quite painful because this high-energy light is hot. And after how many sessions is a first success visible?
“Several sessions should be performed consecutively four weeks apart. At least four sessions can be seen as basic therapy,” the expert told BUNTE.de. The first results would be seen after about three to four sessions. The costs per treatment would be 600 to 800 euros, the exact amount could be shared between doctors vary. “An interesting device that works with similar goals is the so-called ‘Ultherapy’, which works with focused ultrasound and places ultrasound energy in several defined depths of the skin,” the Munich specialist continues his explanations achieve stronger and more intensive collagen formation.” This corresponds to the answer of Dr. med. Esther Wißmüller, Dr. med. Welf Prager and colleagues. In the BUNTE.de interview, the Munich specialists assume that Barbara Schöneberger will benefit from this gentle method talked about tightening the skin. The cost of treating one region would be around 1800 euros.Like Barbara’s fountain of youth, however, in the end ch looks exactly, the beautiful presenter can only answer herself.
