Large Fire Engulfs Electrical Substation in North Fort Worth, Prompting Urgent Response and Crews’ Action
Roanoke, Texas – A significant fire broke out at an electrical substation in north Fort Worth on Wednesday evening, triggering a swift response from the Fort Worth Fire Department. The blaze, located near Seventeen Lakes Boulevard and Henrietta Creek Road, has been described as “very active” by officials, who are advising the public to steer clear of the area to facilitate emergency vehicle access. TxDOT cameras in the vicinity have captured images of towering smoke clouds and flames billowing from the substation.
Oncor, the energy delivery company, has confirmed its awareness of the situation and has deployed crews to the site to disable electricity flow, allowing firefighters to combat the fire safely. The initial outbreak caused some power disruptions, but Oncor managed to reroute power lines and resolve the issue for most affected customers. By a little after 9:20 p.m., all impacted customers had their power restored.
### Saginaw Fire Department Joins Response Efforts
In a show of solidarity, the Saginaw Fire Department has also mobilized to support Fort Worth fire crews at the scene. Craig Trojacek, the Public Information Officer for the Fort Worth Fire Department, revealed that firefighters are currently in a “holding position,” deliberating whether to let the fire burn out naturally or take action by dousing it with water.
“There is a considerable amount of oil involved, roughly around 30,000 gallons,” Trojacek disclosed to the media on Wednesday night. “We are unsure of how much has been consumed by the fire, given its duration over the past few hours. Monitoring the situation closely is crucial.”
Trojacek further noted that the substation has endured “significant damage,” although there is no suspicion of any malicious intent behind the fire’s origin. While approximately 20 nearby residences have been notified about the incident, evacuation orders have not been issued as of now.
