Kroger uploads a recipe for strawberry white chocolate chip cookies to TikTok, with the help of Makena Yee (Seattle Grub Food Content Creator)
Kroger appears to be getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit. It’s made with white chocolate chips and strawberry cake mix.
The supermarket chain shared a 22 second video tutorial that explained the recipe for its verified TikTok profile. It was created by Food Content creator Makena Yie, who is also a communication student at the University of Washington and runs her Instagram blog Seattle Grub.
Yee, 21 years old, described the six-ingredient Valentine’s Day cookie recipe as “perfect” in the video’s voiceover.
First, she add strawberry cake mix powder and baking soda to a bowl. Next, she whisks the dry ingredients together. Yee then cracks 2 eggs in a bowl, before adding vanilla extract and canola oil to the bowl. She then whisks it together until it forms a doughy texture.
Yee adds white chocolate chips to the dough and then mixes them in a final time. Finally, she scoops out small spheres of dough with a stainless-steel scooper. The cookie dough is placed on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Yee suggests baking the cookies at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in an oven.
Baked cookies can be placed on a cooling tray like Yee’s last shot. This will allow them to harden evenly.
Yee said that “after they’re done baking they’re ready for going and [you] can give them to your Valentineine.” The video has been viewed more then 333,000 times and was liked by more than 19,100 TikTok users.
Fox News Digital reached out for comments to Yee and Kroger, but they did not respond immediately.
Yee has not posted the recipe to her TikTok profile. However, Kroger made sure to tag Yee as part of the caption. This is similar to how it did with other influencers who re-shared it on the popular video app.
TikTok commenters who liked Kroger’s Valentine’s Day posting shared their thoughts and were mostly impressed.
One user wrote, “These cookies really are so good yall.”
Another user stated, “Just picked up the ingredients today.”
“Thank you! “I made cherry cake with maraschino bits, and the white chips,” wrote an experimenter. “So good!”
