Homes rebuilt by Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 are said to have structural problems, electrical and plumbing malfunctions, and mold today.
A report obtained by The Hollywood Reporter indicates that New Orleans residents who received support from the Make It Right Foundation to rebuild their homes are not out of luck.
Of the 109 homes supported, some had to be rebuilt up to three times between 2005 and 2014. Several homeowners over the years have discovered various structural issues and defects, electrical or plumbing issues, and mold.
In 2018, a class action lawsuit was filed against the foundation and its president, Brad Pitt. A few years later, in 2022, another charity, Global Green USA, offered to settle the dispute and foot the US$20.5 million bill. But the NPO ultimately did not have the funds…
In short, in New Orleans, charities are not looked upon very favorably.
