Kjoledesigneren Jesper Høvring had lain horizontally to be ready for the Queen’s birthday in april. But so was the celebration canceled due to the current coronakrise.
Now he hopes simply that his dresses can be aired a second time.
“She is a terrible festive and totally awesome queen. So my cautious guess is that I could not imagine anything other than that she wants to be celebrated on a different date, and then postpone it as just,” says Jesper Høvring, who is known especially for its dresses for crown princess Mary as well as ‘dancing with the stars’-værtinderne.
“Whether it is the same with the major parties at both The Royal Theatre and Christiansborg and in private, I could not say. But I will venture that there will be a celebration. However, I do know not more, than any other make. Unfortunately. And it makes our guests either.”
“But the Queen has probably also been sewn three-four new dresses, as she does not even can use for anything. So she wants well also to get them used.”
In Jesper Høvrings shops is you have to stand close to customers, among other things, to take objectives, so they have been closed under the corona of the epidemic. Nevertheless, it is not something that he can brand on the purse. Yet.
“But you are naive if you think it’s not going to mean anything. I think it hits me later,” says Jesper Høvring, who have an expectation that people will be more reluctant to hold large-scale celebrations the time ahead and, therefore, not need an expensive dress.
The dresses, his tailor worked hard to get ready for queen Margrethe’s cancelled birthday celebration, however, has not cost him anything. He takes payment up front, he says.
Whether it is exclusively for guests who have placed orders, or on Jesper Høvring also designed the dresses for the royals, he can unfortunately not talk about, he tells with a smile.
Despite the silence in the business to ensure Jesper Høvring been busy at home in the corona-quarantine.
“We have just bought a puppy, and it goes that much time with. Then I have some other jobs, where I design the costumes, and the ones I can easily continue. And so are my kids at home,” says Jesper Høvring, which leaves it with hjemmeskoling to his wife Lena.
“I do not say, it is like being on vacation, for it, it is not. But we eat breakfast and lunch together and all, and it is so comfortable and very unfamiliar in the weekdays. So I will try to enjoy.”
