Roger Federer has not been seen on the big tennis stage for a long time. Most recently, a comeback at the US Open was suspected. But now the Swiss is indicating the end of his professional career.
Are Federer saying goodbye to tennis? Is he coming back or not? Now Roger Federer (40) gave an insight into his world of thoughts. “I love to win, but when you’re not competitive anymore, then it’s better to stop. I don’t think I need tennis,” said the 20-time Grand Slam winner in an interview with the Dutch daily Algemeen Dagblad.
Short, clear, compact
“A professional career can’t last forever”: “Tennis is part of my life, but not my whole identity. I know that a professional career can’t last forever,” said Federer. Still, it was strange for him not to play Wimbledon this year, but instead just to watch it on TV.
The super star appreciates normal everyday life: “I can honestly say that I am very happy at home. Sometimes I miss the sport. However, living at home in a normal way is just as good.” So he now enjoys the little things in life, for example when his daughter brings home a good grade.
