MOSCOW, may 4/ Radio Sputnik. The ex-President of Georgia and former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili said that in the next one to two days, President Vladimir Zelensky will make the announcement of his appointment to the government of Ukraine.
Earlier media reported that Zelensky invited him to become Deputy Prime Minister for reform and asked to begin negotiations with the IMF and other financial institutions. However, the former President of Georgia does not have support in Parliament, including the party Zelensky “servant of the people”.
Mikheil Saakashvili left Georgia in 2013, where he opened a number of criminal cases, some of them he was sentenced in absentia to prison terms. In the spring of 2015 Saakashvili received the Ukrainian citizenship and the post of Governor of the Odessa region thanks to the ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. However, in 2016, he dismissed Saakashvili, and in 2017 stripped of his citizenship. In 2019, the new President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky returned Saakashvili Ukrainian citizenship.
Earlier radio Sputnik reported that the Ukrainian media called the format of political interaction between Saakashvili and Zelensky.
