Climate change in Yakutia is more noticeable in the future, the thawing of permafrost could lead to the relocation of many inhabitants of the Republic, said the Deputy Director for science of the permafrost Institute Melnikov behalf of SB RAS, senior research fellow, international scientific-educational center of biogeochemistry and climatology BEST Institute of natural Sciences NEFU Alexander Fedorov.
Fedorov pointed out that in the past 10-20 years, climate warming in Yakutia became stronger. In the North the temperature increased by two degrees from the long-term average in the Central and southern parts – one-half degrees, RIA “Novosti”.
The warming in the Central and southern Yakutia began in the 1990-ies.
“In a world of Yakutia is considered to be one of the regions experiencing the greatest warming. The whole world fears the release of greenhouse gases from melting permafrost (…) If global warming continues to develop at the same rate, then many residents who live on selenologist permafrost, will have to move. This conclusion lead the results of the scientists from different countries, who note serious changes in the landscape of permafrost (…) Referring to our scientists-biologists, I would say that they note the move to the North different species with warming climate,” – said the scientist.
It is also indicated that in the year 2017 scientists from NEFU albert Svinoboeva and Aizza Neustroeva has published an article in which 72% of respondents noted the subsidence of the foundations of houses in Zarechnyj areas of Central Yakutia.
According to Fyodorov, 40-50% of arable land used up to 1990 in Churapcha and Tatta districts of the Republic, located on selenologist ground, at the moment is completely degraded and can’t be used. In his opinion, the solution in this situation would be the development of sustainable territories.
“the Whole world the science of the permafrost warns that became very dangerous to live on the permafrost. However, permafrost is diverse, a number of us have a sustainable landscape that can withstand the warming. These landscapes should be developed. Not only live, but also to such areas of the economy, to benefit from climate warming. It requires capital and investments means that decisions should be taken by the authorities”, – he concluded.
We will remind, in June the Yakut city of Verkhoyansk, also known as the Northern pole of cold, meteorologists have confirmed anomalous heat – the air temperature rose to +38 degrees.
This temperature record was interested by the world meteorological organization (WMO), the anomaly after the test may be included in the so-called meteorological book of records – the Archive of exclusive pogotion and climatic temperatures.
In July in Yakutia introduced a state of emergency in connection with forest fires.
