Emma Sweet (22) and her father were reported missing on Thursday
Indiana authorities continued searching for a 2 year-old girl missing Saturday after finding what they believe to be her coat downstream of where her father was located Friday morning in his submerged truck.
Jeremy Sweet was taken by ambulance to a hospital with hypothermia, after he was pulled from the White River Friday morning, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office.
Sweet was “out on bail for unlawful possess of a firearmby a serious violent felon” according to the sheriff’s office. This is according FOX 41 in Louisville Kentucky.
According to WISH-TV Indianapolis, he was discovered by duck hunters in the early morning near Columbus, Indiana.
Emma Sweet, Emma’s 2-year-old daughter, was last seen Wednesday. She was reported missing on Thursday by FOX 41.
Multiple agencies had personnel involved in the search.
“All the agencies have been working together to find Emma, and bring her home to the family,” Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers stated in a statement posted to Facebook.
According to WISH, Jeremy Sweet claimed that Emma had been with him when he met officers.
The department stated that investigators confirmed that the little girl was not found under or inside the truck.
Brittany Matney, a neighbor and volunteer told WISH that it broke her heart as she has five children of her own. “I look at my 2-year-old daughter and it makes me cry. I don’t know how this could happen, especially to a small child. It’s sad. It is heartbreaking.
