Iran says it has fended off an attack on a munitions factory. The state news agencies Irna and Isna, citing the Ministry of Defence, report that several small aircraft attacked the facility north of the city of Isfahan on Sunday night. Pictures show an explosion at the plant.
The Lufthansa Group is now also reacting to this. “Due to the currently unclear security situation for the airspace around Tehran airport and for Iranian airspace, the airlines in the Lufthansa Group are suspending flights from/to Tehran up to and including January 31, 2023 as a precaution,” the group announced.
“Together with national and international authorities, Lufthansa Group Security continues to evaluate the security situation for arrivals and departures at Tehran Airport and the entire Iranian airspace,” it said. “As soon as we have detailed information, we will decide whether or when our Iran flights can be operated again.”
