A resolution condemning "violations of human rights in Russia," submitted to the Congress of the United States, reported the press service of the foreign Affairs Committee of the house of representatives.
"the Resolution calls upon the Russian Federation to immediately release political prisoners and encourages the administration (Donald ed.) trump to impose sanctions on those officials in the Russian government responsible for violations of human rights", – reads the statement of the authors of the resolution – the Chairman of the Committee, Democrat Eliot Engel and members of the Committee, Republican Michael McCall.
The resolution contained accusations against the Russian authorities in the prosecution of the journalists, opposition, civil society and supporters of religious freedoms. The Russian foreign Ministry such criticism in the past rejected.
