To return to the Soviet practice of ration cards in Russia now makes no sense, as there are no prerequisites for this, said the head of the State Duma Committee for labour and social policy Yaroslav Nilov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, this idea can be regarded as the desire of some networks is to hide the violations, for example, overpricing. “In any store go — there is no any shortage or hype neither in Moscow, nor in other regions”, — said Nilov.
Previously producers and suppliers of food products encouraged the country’s leadership as soon as possible to return to the Soviet practice of ration cards that were issued would the poorest inhabitants. His proposal, they substantiate the need to struggle with falling incomes amid coronavirus and the resulting crisis.
The card system was practiced in the USSR in conditions of food shortages. However, unlike the current proposals, the card did not rule out the need to pay for the purchase and have served only to confirm the right of the transaction.
