The head of the project “Sober Russia”, State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev proposed to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes via the Internet. A copy of the letter addressed to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov is available to RT.
In his address, the legislator noted that, according to media reports, several cases have occurred in Russia only over the past year, as a result of which smoking electronic cigarettes provoked the death of a minor citizen.
Experts, including foreign ones, have repeatedly drawn attention to the false claims of e-cigarette manufacturers that they are safer than traditional tobacco products.
Medical research in recent years has shown that smoking electronic cigarettes damages the lungs, provokes asthma symptoms, and has a negative impact on the cardiovascular system.
At the same time, if online trade in traditional tobacco products is prohibited in Russia, then electronic cigarettes and their elements – heating systems, salt nicotine cartridges, vaporizers, etc. — can be ordered today with delivery at large online marketplaces, Khamzaev noted.
“In this regard, I ask you to consider the introduction of a ban on the sale of electronic cigarettes and their individual components in the Russian Federation through online trading platforms,” the text of the appeal says.
Earlier it became known that the federal government introduces labeling of liquids for vapes from December 15.
