Saint Petersburg bids farewell with the honored artist of RSFSR Svetlana Ephraim, a famous ballerina and teacher. She passed away after a long illness at the age of 73 years.
Svetlana’s Life Ephraim, a graduate of the Leningrad choreographic school named after Vaganova, is connected with the two theatres of St. Petersburg. In 1966-1993 years she was a leading soloist of the Mariinsky (Kirov) theatre. And at the Mikhailovsky theatre, it will always be remembered as a fine teacher.

Among the most prominent roles of Svetlana Efremova – Masha in “Nutcracker”, Aurora and Princess Florine in “Sleeping beauty”, Kitri in “don Quixote,” the devil in the creation of the world, La Sylphide, Cinderella and many others.
– Those who saw Svetlana Ephraim on stage and in the rehearsal room, will always remember her full of life and light. Light, charming, smiling – she was so similar to their stage heroines – remember at the Mikhailovsky theatre. For the artists it is a huge loss.
– For us, Svetlana V. was not just a teacher. She was the light that led us in life, – says the student of Ephraim, the soloist of the Mikhailovsky theatre Anastasia Soboleva. She never looked for thanks, glory, honor. For her the main thing was to give the world the best. A brilliant dancer, she was a heroine of the tales – a man without flaws, with a pure soul and huge heart.
Today, Svetlana Ephraim are buried at the Smolensk cemetery in St. Petersburg.
