In the middle of next year could begin the mandatory registration of mobile phones by factory number (IMEI), writes “Kommersant”.
This requirement is contained in the new version of the bill prepared by the members of the Federation Council. According to the publication, the project passes final approval in the presidential administration, and then may be submitted to the Duma. It is assumed that to register a smartphone by the IMEI will oblige importers, as well as citizens who purchased the device abroad.
the Procedure and the fee for the registration will be set by the government. In the first version of the bill, which was developed in 2019, the registration cost is not more than 100 rubles.
However, importers will pay a fee for registration, only new phones. The device to be used in Russia at the time of entry of the bill into force, you can register for free. Will not have to register the smartphones and other devices with SIM cards purchased for state and municipal needs. The rest of the equipment, the unregistered, may be blocked by the mobile operator.
