Every year it will be celebrated on August 18.
The order was signed by Minister of economic development Maxim Reshetnikov at the order of Prime Minister Mikhail mishustina. About it reports a press-service of the Russian geographical society.
Last year Vladimir Putin approved a list of instructions for the popularization of geography. In addition to the establishment of the Day of the geographer, the President ordered to establish the honorary title “Honored geographer of the Russian Federation”, as well as to develop professional standards and take action to improve the quality of geography teaching in schools.
