Face-to-face meeting of foreign Ministers of BRICS countries is scheduled for June, the dates have not yet been transferred, said the Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"Just had a very informative, specific video-conference of foreign Ministers of member countries of BRICS, it was held at the initiative of the Russian Federation. We are this year’s chairmen of the BRICS", – Lavrov said at a press conference after the informal foreign Affairs Ministers of the BRICS in the format of videoconference.
He noted that in conditions when a series of events forced postponed because of the spread of coronavirus infection, the BRICS countries decided to hold an extraordinary meeting of the BRICS, to see what contribution to international efforts against this threat can make our five countries.
"This video conference does not negate the main full Council meeting of foreign Ministers of the five, which is scheduled for June, until we these terms are stored, but, of course, will be to correct them if necessary, if required by the epidemiological situation", – said the Minister.
