Sad news from the school set up by NBA superstar LeBron James just a few years ago. A 17-year-old man was beaten to death on the school’s basketball court.
LeBron James is not only one of the greatest basketball players of all time, he is also a generous philanthropist. James has always been very active in fighting social injustice, particularly in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.
In 2018, James opened a primary school, I Promise School, which provides a quality education to hundreds of underprivileged inner city children.
According to the Fordham Institute in Ohio, 90 percent of the school’s students met or exceeded expected progress in math and reading.
The school’s great reputation has now suffered a severe blow when a 17-year-old was beaten to death on the basketball court at James’ I Promise school.
The young man, who died as a result of a head injury, was found Thursday in the parking lot near the basketball courts.
Police said the victim and his friends were involved in a fight with a group of men allegedly playing basketball on the court, with the victim’s friends calling 911 after he was knocked unconscious.
