In Germany since the beginning of March recorded the spread of pneumonia among blue Tits (blue tit). It is reported the oldest German nature conservation organization NABU.
in the study of the dead birds were discovered bacterium Suttonella ornithocola, which is the cause of the disease. Sick birds, according to NABU, can be found at the apathetic mind. They blankly sitting on the ground, while sometimes it is evident that they have breathing problems. Ill tit don’t eat, because, presumably, can’t swallow.
the nature defenders is recommended to refrain from feeding the birds where there are already cases of tit, to prevent the spread of infection. They are also asked to report the location of sick birds. Over the past two weeks in Germany it became known about 11 thousands of dead birds, most of which – tit. The disease is especially prevalent in Western regions of the country.

However, experts from the Greek ornithological society believe that in this case it is not a disease, and in adverse weather conditions. Strong winds forced the birds to abort the flight on migration routes and seek refuge on earth. In this regard, the watchers gave a few recommendations for dealing with swallows. In particular, the experts are asked not to approach the birds and not disturb them. Drivers also need to be careful due to the fact that many birds are sitting on the roads.
