The traffic light coalition considers it necessary to repeat the federal elections in around 300 of the almost 2,300 Berlin voting districts. This refers exclusively to the second votes, said the SPD MP Johannes Fechner on Tuesday of the AFP news agency.
Fechner therefore sent a corresponding proposal from the traffic light representatives in the Bundestag’s election examination committee to Chairwoman Daniela Ludwig (CSU) in the afternoon.
The elections for the Bundestag and, at the same time, for the Berlin House of Representatives on September 26 were marked by many mishaps and organizational problems in the capital. These included incorrect or missing ballots, the temporary closure of polling stations and long queues in front of them, sometimes with waiting times lasting hours. In addition, polling stations were open much longer than 6 p.m.
More to come.
