Clarisa books a hotel room with a breathtaking sea view for a lot of money. But what she finds is something completely different.
Influencer Clarisa Murgia experienced an unexpected surprise when she checked into her sea-view hotel room in Italy. She had paid extra for the room because she wanted to enjoy the spectacular sea views advertised.
Murgia, who had expected idyllic images of blue seas, sailboats and mountain ranges on her European trip, quickly discovered that the breathtaking view from the balcony was not what she had hoped for. Instead of the promised sea view, there was a huge poster of a seascape on the wall opposite her window.
In a video on TikTok, the influencer shows how the poster actually looks deceptively real from a certain angle. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that the sea view is just a grand illusion. The real view was a crumbling white wall and rows of barred windows. “I have never been cheated on like this,” she writes.
Reactions to the scam have been mixed. One TikTok user commented: “That’s why I always look at the place carefully so as not to fail.” Another user commented humorously: “Not even my ex lied that much.”
Disappointments on vacation are a common occurrence. Two travel bloggers recently wanted to celebrate their anniversary in a romantic way in the Maldives. They spent 10,800 euros on the trip, but their experience was anything but a dream vacation.
