All residents of Hesse who have been registered in Hesse for at least three months and are 18 years old may elect the new state parliament of Hesse on October 8th, 2023.
The electoral system in Hesse is a so-called “personalized proportional representation”, as it is also known from the federal elections. Every inhabitant in Hesse has two votes – the first vote and the second vote:
