(Paris) The second show by Pharrell Williams, global star and artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s collections, will be held in Hong Kong on November 30, after his first extraordinary show in Paris in June, the house announced on Tuesday.
This will be the “Pre-fall” men’s collection, which some major houses present outside of Fashion Weeks.
This will be the first Louis Vuitton fashion show organized in Hong Kong, “whose links with the house go back more than forty years, when Louis Vuitton opened its first store in East Tsim Sha Tsui in 1979”, underlines the house in a press release.
“Louis Vuitton found an inexhaustible source of inspiration in the cultural dynamism of this archipelago. The fashion show will translate this intensity through the artistic vision of Pharrell Williams,” according to the same source.
With his first show for Vuitton in Paris, on the Pont-Neuf with a shower of stars, Pharrell Williams, jack-of-all-trades artist and author of the global success Happy, created the event of Men’s Fashion Week in June.
“Freedom is a luxury. […] Not everyone has freedom. […] I try to tell these stories with our collections, our campaigns and our shows,” said Pharell Williams on Monday in an interview with the Business of Fashion, regretting that the hip-hop culture he embodies is rather associated with “ bottles of champagne” or “racing cars”.
“The reason I was brought here is to drive expansion and growth, not only in sales but also from a cultural perspective,” he emphasized.
The world’s number one luxury brand LVMH is doing very well with net profit up 30% in the first half, to nearly 8.5 billion euros. Louis Vuitton, the group’s flagship, for its part, exceeded 20 billion euros in sales in 2022.
