The key lies with the Federal Ministry of the Interior, “which must implement the repatriation and secure the borders,” emphasized the Prime Minister.
In view of the increasing number of asylum applications, Hesse’s Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU) has called on the federal government to implement a repatriation offensive as quickly and successfully as possible.
“A special representative of the federal government for migration is not enough,” said the CDU politician to the “RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland” (RND). “We need a successful repatriation offensive. In 2022 there were more than 85,000 unauthorized border crossings into Germany, almost 60,000 of them via Poland, Austria, the Czech Republic and Switzerland,” he criticized.
The key lies with the Federal Ministry of the Interior, “which must implement the repatriation and secure the borders,” emphasized the Prime Minister. “The fatal thing is that the traffic light plans for citizenship create the wrong incentives in an already tense situation and the situation could worsen.”
When asked whether another refugee summit was needed, Rhein said: “It would be wise for the Chancellor to make uncontrolled migration a top priority and to discuss with the federal states and local authorities in a timely manner how to proceed.” This affects border security, measures in the countries of origin, but also dealing with the situation on the ground.
