H-E-B has officially announced the grand opening date for its new and improved South Congress store in Austin. The new location, situated at 2400 S. Congress Ave., is set to open its doors on December 4th at 6 a.m. This exciting news comes after the company revealed plans to demolish the original Congress store, which has been serving customers since 1957.

In the meantime, H-E-B has been operating out of a temporary space at the Twin Oaks Shopping Center on 2301 S. Congress Ave. The new store is a multi-level facility spanning over 145,000 square feet. The ground level will offer both indoor and outdoor dining areas, while the second level will house a wide range of products. Additionally, there will be three levels of above-ground parking available for customers’ convenience.

One of the highlights of the new store is the True Texas BBQ section, where customers can enjoy delicious barbecue meals. Other services include curbside and home delivery options, a pharmacy with a drive-thru, and various local art installations celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the South Congress area.

Cathy Harm, H-E-B Group Vice President for Central Texas, expressed the company’s commitment to creating a store that reflects the essence of the South Congress community. She stated, “Our vision has always been to create a store that our customers will be proud of, an iconic location that reflects the personality and vibrancy of the South Congress community.”

The new store design aims to show appreciation for the loyal customers who have supported H-E-B’s business for over six decades. With a focus on customer satisfaction and community engagement, the new South Congress store promises to be a hub of activity and a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
