The administration of U.S. President Donald trump have failed again while trying to arrange face-to-face negotiations of the group of seven (G7, "big seven"). As reported in Thursday’s edition of Der Spiegel, citing sources in government circles of Germany, foreign Minister Heiko Maas and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said no to the proposal of the American side to take part in the Ministerial meeting, scheduled to take place on July 29 in Washington.
The German authorities have signaled just about ready to send to Washington the state secretaries of the relevant departments. According to the publication, and other countries "big seven" has declared that will not participate in the meeting at the Ministerial level.
In the European G7 States believe that trump would try to use the event in the midst of the election campaign in the United States in their favor, the newspaper writes. And still, the American side did not even consider alternatives – video conferencing Ministers. From the point of view of European members of the group of seven, it says that trump is interested "more in the show than in the dialogue".
Earlier in the week, Washington withdrew its invitation to the Ministers. The White house has not yet responded to the request, therefore this decision.
Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel because of the situation with coronavirus refused to go to head to the G7 summit, which Washington had planned to hold in late June. Subsequently, trump announced that he carries it to September and plans to invite Russia, South Korea, Australia and India.
