Police consider the mess occurred when the suspects crashed right into their getaway car
Former Carolina Panthers celebrity linebacker Thomas Davis Sr. claims two thieves broke into his home early Tuesday morning and damaged one of his luxury vehicles after trying to drive off in it.
Davis, 38, took to social media to offer a cash reward to anyone that may help spot the”idiots” he broke into his garage and stole his McLaren 720S.
“If some of you recognize either one of these idiots that decided it was a fantastic idea to come into my home and go through all my cars as well as steal and mess my McLaren,” he said on Instagram. “I’m offering a cash reward for anyone that can help identify who these guys are!”
Davis, who retired in March, shared surveillance of the suspects and numerous pictures detailing the damage to the car that police later located less than a mile away from Davis’ house.
According to a press release from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement responded to a larceny call at roughly 5:23 a.m. at a gated community at the Providence area. Davis was already on the scene following a neighbor approached them about a wrecked automobile.
“Detectives believe the suspects, called two young males, broke into and rummaged through several unlocked vehicles in the driveway prior to gaining entry into the garage where the McLaren was parked,” the press release read.
“The suspects drove the automobile from their garage and were traveling toward Providence Road when the crash occurred.”
Police believe the mess happened when the suspects crashed into their getaway car.
Davis updated his followers late Tuesday night to say they nailed the suspects down.
“We know who did it. We discovered that the men ”
A three-time Pro Bowler, Davis was drafted by the Panthers in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft and played 14 seasons before signing up with the Chargers at 2019. Following a brief stint with the Washington Football Team, he retired with the Panthers on a one-day contract.
