WILMINGTON, DELAWARE, USA — Charles Magro, also known as Chuck, has been appointed chief executive officer at Corteva, Inc., effective November 1. He will succeed James C. Collins Jr. who will be retiring at the end.
Magro was most recently CEO of Nutrien, from its launch in 2018 to April 2021. Before that, Magro was the president and CEO at Agrium, which merged into PotashCorp to create Nutrien. Magro was previously chief operating officer, chief risks officer, vice president manufacturing, and executive vice president for corporate development before he was named CEO of Agrium. After a long career at NOVA Chemicals, Magro joined Agrium in 2009.
Magro is an active member of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Magro was vice chairman of The International Fertilizer Association, past chair and board member at The Fertilizer Institute, and served as a board trustee for The World Economic Forum’s Food Systems Initiative. He provided strategic leadership in building inclusive, sustainable, efficient and healthy global food systems.
He has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Windsor.
