Fodboldforbundet in Ireland have Saturday replaced national coach Mick McCarthy with U21 boss Stephen Kenny.

The Danish national football team has in recent years played for the WORLD championships and european championships after the memorable matches at stamford bridge against Ireland.

The Irish Football association has Saturday, decided to terminate cooperation with coach Mick McCarthy before the time and replace him with the U21-national team manager Stephen Kenny. It writes the BBC and Sky Sports.

The plan was that Kenny would replace McCarthy after the summer’s european championship finals.

EM-tournament was in march deferred by one year to 2021 due to the immediate coronapandemi, which has been linked to bring forward the planned reshuffle.

Mick McCarthy was the national coach for Ireland through the european championship qualification tournament, where the irish finished behind Denmark after the two countries in november played to a 1-1 draw in Dublin.

Martin Braithwaite brought the Danish visitors in front with a small 20 minutes left, before Matt Doherty levelled the game in the final stage.

Thus, Poland and Denmark, the direct EM-seats, while Ireland continues to have the chance through playoffkampe. Here you meet the team Slovakia, and wins the irish duel, they must be up against either Bosnia or northern Ireland for a space for EM.

When Denmark in november 2017 beat Ireland 5-1 after a storkamp in Dublin, and secured access to the WORLD cup in Russia the year after, sat Martin O’neill at the irish trænerbænk.
